- Click on the Communications In Print e-mail address.
- In the SUBJECT line, write: "COPY for your company's name"
- Write your complete contact information in the main message window and any additional message you need to send to us.
- Choose to ATTACH or INSERT. (On Netscape, there is an ATTACH button; for Microsoft Exchange, there is a file option in the INSERT menu; in Microsoft Outlook there is a button with a paperclip on it -- choose
FILE)
- If you are sending text, make sure that the file is saved as WordPerfect or Rich Text Format (RTF).
- If you are sending a graphic or photo, make sure it is saved as a TIFF or JPEG and is less than 1 megabyte in size.
- After you have attached all of the appropriate files, send the e-mail message.
-
Information other than text can be sent with an e-mail message. You can "attach" a file with pictures, sound, video, web pages, and even computer programs to an e-mail message. The computer
receiving the attached file must be configured with the proper program to display the picture, hear the sound, view the video, or run the program.
In Netscape Messenger, to attach a file to an outgoing message:
- From the File menu, choose Attach; then choose File
- In the dialog box that appears, select the file you want to attach and click Open
- The file's icon and name appear in the Attachments List.
To attach a Web Page is almost the same::
- From the File menu, choose Attach; then choose Web Page
- In the text box, enter the URL of the web page you want to attach
- Click OK
- The icon and title of the web page you have attached appears in the attachments list.
- Compose your email.
- Type in the complete path and filename of the attachment in the Attachments: textbox. If you wish, click Browse to locate the file you want to attach.
Note:
Each attachment must not exceed 2 MB.
- Repeat step 2, if necessary. You may attach up to three files per email.
- Click Send.
-
Note - To Download Microsoft Outlook Express, you must have Microsoft Internet Explorer Before you can attach files using Outlook Express, you must have it properly setup and make sure that it works.
Once you are sure that Outlook Express works, open it. To send a new mail message, click on Compose Message. Once the new window to the left opens up, type in the address of the
person receiving the message, the subject, and the body of the message like a normal E-Mail.
When the message is ready, you have two choices on how to attach a file. One way is to click the paperclip icon above the mail message. The second way is to go to the Insert Menu and
then click on File Attachment. Now you will be brought to the window on the right. You may now look through your computer for the file you would like to attach, and then click the Attach button.
You can now see that the message has been selected to be attached. You may attach more than one file at a time, but be sure that the person receiving the mail is able to get more than one
attachment. The bar on the bottom has the icons of all of the files selected to be sent along with the mail.
Click Send to transmit the message and files attached.
Outlook Express will bring you to the status box at the right. It will close itself when the mail is sent, and will report any errors there may be. If you click on Stop then the mail will not be sent
to the recipient at all.
You may Hide this box and work on other applications now. The mail should be successfully sent and you will be taken back to Outlook Express' main menu.
